Cannabinoid

CBD-olie

Cannabis sativa

CBD oil is an extract of the hemp plant, dissolved in a carrier oil. The active ingredient cannabidiol is non-psychoactive: it does not cause a high. Products vary greatly in composition (full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, or isolate).

Legal status

In the Netherlands, it is freely available as long as the THC content remains below the legal limit (in practice, 0.05%). It is sold as a supplement, not as a registered medicinal product — no medical effect may be promised. Regulations change; check the current government guidelines.

Common uses

  • Experiencing stress and inner restlessness
  • Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • General feeling of well-being and relaxation
  • Support for physical tension after exertion

Dosage & use

There is no official dosage. The common approach is to start low and gradually increase until you find what works for you. Place drops under the tongue and let it work for a minute before swallowing. Allow a few days for each adjustment to take effect.

Cautions

Mild side effects include fatigue, dry mouth, and changes in appetite. CBD may influence the breakdown of certain medications by the liver — consult your doctor if you are taking blood thinners, anti-epileptics, or other regular medication. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
